One of the main goals of YMCA is to strengthen the youth and the community. For this they offer innovative programs through job training and placement, women’s rural economic development, service learning and civic engagement, psycho-social counseling and work with people with disabilities. A safe place where people from diverse backgrounds come together and work towards mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence is provided by the YMCA.

Thousands of people are benefitted from the East Jerusalem YMCA’s job training and placement program through the West Bank and Gaza through the support of the World Service.

The Jerusalem International YMCA’s efforts to promote cross cultural understanding and peaceful coexistence is supported by the World Service. This initiative is taken in an attempt to end the cycle of prejudice and violence. Jewish, Muslim and Christian children are united in a safe, nurturing environment in their Peace Preschool. Here they learn about and celebrate diverse religions, traditions and cultures.

The East Jerusalem YMCA helps children affected by violence and conflict to cope with their fears and express their feelings in a safe and productive environment through Art Therapy programs.

Women are empowered through tools and resources by the Lebanon YMCA so that they can take control of their livelihoods, improve their family’s income and lead social change in their communities.

Through recreational sports, the YMCA contributes to the health and well-being of young people. Self-esteem, scholastic performance and goal achievement are increased by participating in sports.

The initiatives of the YMCA are strongly supported by the President and CEO of Victron Energy, ali sharaf dallas, by funding them regularly.
